Poppy jasper rock morgan hill11/26/2023 ![]() I believe, however, collecting is not really allowed here. Rangers may kick you out if they see you with hammers and chisels, though they shouldn't give you to much trouble if you are just carrying out a couple of pieces. Some of the chalcedony even seems to be carnelian. The bluest agate seems to be more present within the darkest red chert and jasper. Beyond the fence there is a trail leading down to the lake, follow the trail along the lakes edge around to the rock face where you can find jasper and agate-jasper chunks, magnesite viens are seen within the serpentine and agate veins within the chert. It cost about $2 for parking at Anderson Lake County Park. Mitchell.įollowing the one way road up to the dam, park at the far end of the damn (great views from the top of the dam). Jade.įor more info on this location see Site 62 in Gem Trails of Northern California by James R. Jasper, orbicular jasper, 'poppy jasper'. It was Guadalupe Poppy Jasper I bought retail for $1.50 per pound at Science, Crafts & Hobbies store in Charlotte, NC.Anderson Lake, Morgan Hill, Santa Clara County, CA. The first Poppy Jasper rough I ever bought was in 1973. I wouldn't offer over $8 per pound for this rock. So unless someone wants it for just a specimen in my opinion I believe the massive size hurts the per pound value. Personally I would rather have 70lbs of Poppy Jasper in a few pieces in sizes for 14" - 18" saws rather than in one 70lb chunk. So you're probably either going to have to have 36" saw or pay someone who does to cut it for you. With a piece of Poppy Jasper this large I would never risk hammering it into smaller pieces or you may end up turning the best areas into tumbling rough. And if you are buying it to slab and resale you'll have to adjust for profit margin. When I consider buying a large pricey piece of cabbing rough I try to base it's value on what the slab value will be minus costs and time of slabbing. But in my opinion that piece is WAY overpriced. LOVE Poppy Jasper!!! It's one of my favorite rocks. Would it be advantageous to have me and my wife meet with you and your brother in order to discuss this with all parties present? (if she agrees Eva must wear a jasper wrap to the meeting and give it to her when a deal is struck! seeing your work may motivate her to sell it to the "right buyer". He is just not ready to let it go so cheaply. My brother and I have spoken about it a few times. M- Yes, I really appreciate your offer and the fact it was good for a year. You have had it gathering dust for a couple more months now. I am calling back today hoping you might reconsider your price point. If you remember I offered $700 for it and that offer was good for a year. T- Yes, of course we agree that is a fantastic example of a hard to find item. I think $30 a pound is very fair for such a rare and gorgeous piece. M- Yes, Tommy I do remember you, yes that super nice stone is still sitting on my patio. ![]() We spoke a while back about the beautiful morgan hill boulder you have. ![]() Sooner or later they will accept this now credible offer from the most serious buyer. The twelve months offer makes you credible, calling back in two makes you serious. The key is to know what your generous off is and keep making those calls until they finally get real. I have used this method of buying for MANY valuable and profitable items in the last 30 years. Lather rinse repeat until they decide to sell. Then re-iterate your offer, making it good for another 12 months. ![]() Put it in your calendar to call then in two months. When they turn you down, then ask them to keep your number stating the offer is good for a year. Call them back, make them your most generous offer and ask them to re-consider. It may take two or three iterations before they reach real market value. In the present case the stone can sit in the backyard and when they get re-motivated to sell they will re-think price. I am totally comfortable with having taken care of my friend's daughter in this manner. That made the headache of making it happen for the animal's and the family's sake worthwhile (but not extra profitable). Truthfully, I bought the collection for $0.20 on the dollar. The ability to make that happen must have some discount value as does simply buying a HUUUUGE volume. Dad is dead and the ENTIRE collection needed rapid liquidation. The daughter felt she had $60,000 worth of animals. His daughter was basing her asking price on conversations she had with dad. I once bought a deceased friend's reptile collection. ![]()
